chef's table - tiso's house

A fake Chef's Table episode to document a close friend's elaborate dinner party

My friend Fabrizio does the most wonderful, elaborate dinners every year for a close group. The process starts days prior, with menu planning and ingredient shopping, and as he described it to us, it felt more and more like a Chef's Table episode.

So we decided to make it one. Chef's Table has such a specific, indelible visual and tonal style - one that we love - and so we set out to make it as close to the original as we possibly could. A dramatic philosophy of cooking, stormy intertwining personal histories among the narrators, lots of shallow-focus cooking shots, a crisis of conscience, and plenty of silly cutaways.

We wrote a script, rented camera and sound equipment off the fantastic selection that Kitsplit has to offer, and shot the whole thing over a weekend, culminating in the actual dinner party itself. Everyone played every part of the film crew - camera, sounds, extras, foley etc etc. Exactly my kind of super guerrilla film shoot. Enjoy Chef's Table - Tiso's House - with apologies to David Gelb.
